New Closet

Before:After:
The after picture is not that great but you get part of the idea. I had Bryan run and get the camera because Parker just found this step-stool and has figured out how to use it. Bryan built in some shelves/cubes from floor to ceiling so that we can try to organize all of these wonderful toys we've received recently (I know, I NEED to finish my thank you notes....). So far, this set-up is working out great for me (organization) and for Parker (lots of playing time in his closet).

Addendum...

......to the post from yesterday: 11) He has started this....I am not sure what you call it! Standing on his head maybe?!? Whatever it is, it is hilarious!!!

We'll Settle for the Galleria & Daddy

The Dallas Zoo was on the agenda for today (note the date of this post....way back in October) but plans quickly changed. We were going to ride the DART with Cheryl and Luke but once we got to the DART station, Luke started vomiting. Cheryl took him home and Parker and I decided to make other plans. I hadn't planned on driving to the zoo and by the time I went home to get directions, I would have missed our group. So, we went by and got Parker's second dose of the flu shot (I know, it was suppose to be the zoo day and now he is getting a shot...boo) and then went to play at the Galleria. Since Bryan works across the street from the Galleria, he came over to play and eat lunch with us. YAY!!!

Not the day we had planned but we still had a lot of fun!

Notable Milestones for Parker

1) Started saying "Ma-meeee" last Sunday
2) Started opening doors today
3) LOVES grape tomatoes
4) New foods: raisins, grapes and dried cranberries
5) The other top molar and a bottom tooth are coming in
6) When he hurts himself, he will point to where it hurts
7) I asked Parker on Friday night to go outside (backyard) and get his cup of water that he dropped on the sidewalk....he did it!
8) Giggles at himself
9) Loves to go into his newly organized closet and play by himself
10) Does NOT like his newly altered pacifier (I cut the end off in an effort to start weaning him)

(Playing video games....it appears he already knows how it works!)

Happy Birthday Hector!

Last Sunday we celebrated Hector's birthday with his favorite pizza, some presents and a yummy birthday "cake". Hector LOVES my Mom's banana pudding and since my Mom was here, she made some for him....with a candle and all.

Hector received some Dallas Cowboys houseshoes....NO, we did not buy them for him! Bryan wanted to join in the comfort so he put his on too. Funny boys watching some Sunday football.

We hope you had a wonderful birthday, Hector!

The Black Hat Convention 2010

Me and my ghoulfriends went out for dinner last night, dressed as witches, and enjoyed some girl time! We had a LARGE time!!! It was fun getting dressed up and the food was soooo yummy but the real fun was watching everyone come by and snicker, take pictures and ask lots of questions. The little kids, who did a lot of starring, were cute too.

I included the picture below because this lady, who was sitting in her car as we came out of Brio, was so funny. She was taking some pictures of us from her car and then got out to tell us that she just had to have a picture of us because it wasn't everyday that she sees a group of witches at dinner....HA!

Hunting Pumpkins

Patty & Caroline invited us over for a Pumpkin Hunt at their neighborhood park. We took some mini pumpkins and Patty "hid" them around the park. It didn't take long for the kids, including Parker, to catch on. Bryan took off early that day so he tagged along with us to be the photographer. After the hunt, the kids played and enjoyed being outside.

Painting Pumpkins Playdate @ Sawyer's

Holly & Sawyer invited over today to paint pumpkins. Even though our household had a rough night last night, we were determined to make it. I am glad we did....we had a very good time!

Here is the boy ready to go see his friends (I'll explain "the look" later):
Jessica, Patty & Brandee painting pumpkins (the kids could have cared less):

This one is my fav....and have I mentioned that I love Patty's new hair-do:
Our hosts, Holly & Sawyer:
Our past few nights (and days) have been rough. Parker has not been sleeping well at all! We thought it was just those molars but I took him to the doctor today to make sure. Parker has DOUBLE ear infections. I feel terrible for him!!! Since we've only had one round of antibiotics (back in March), Dr. Eastman thought it would be just fine to give him another round. I pray the meds will kick in quickly, he gets some good sleep tonight and for a fast recovery!

You Are the DAPPLE of My Eye

Parker's new word is "dapple" and loves eating apples. Love the juice running down his chin :)

So Strong!

We made a trip to Home Depot tonight for some building supplies and Parker wanted to help Daddy push the cart. There was a pretty heavy piece of wood on the cart but he managed to give it a good try. It really cracks me up to watch him "help". He is not the kind of kid that follows/immitates but if you ask him to help you, he is right there doing what you are doing. Today I was dusting and so I got him a cloth and asked him to help me. He took the cloth around and did his own version of dusting. So cute!

It's Pumpkin Picking Time!

I did the coloring in this picture and am so proud of myself! If you know me well, you know that I am not very patient and learning a new computer program is not on my agenda. However, I forced myself to learn how to color a B&W picture tonight! My friend Patty does this really well and inspired me to give it a shot. I have a few minor flaws but I am super happy with my finished product! And yes, I am tooting my own horn!!!

We are going private on Sunday so please send your information to me or you will be "locked" out! :)

This Is My Life!

(This picture makes me laugh!)

One of my besties uses this line and while I will not steal it from her, it fits this post.....THIS IS MY LIFE! I haven't posted an update in a while so I thought I would give you a run-down of what is going on with us....mainly Parker I guess.

~We are on the 3rd day of no bottles....period!
~Words Parker can say: Daddy, dog, sit, bye-bye, des (yes) and truck
~Parker is drinking whole milk now.
~Gives hugs and kisses to ANYthing or ANYone!
~Just cut the top right molar today.
~He is very strong-willed.....he wants what he wants and wants it NOW!
~Still loves being outside and have been spending more time outside than inside.

And as for our day to day routine, Parker usually sleeps until 7:30 or 8am and takes 1 to 2 naps a day. Our activities are still filled with playdates and outings with friends. We attend a weekly music class and go on lots (and lots) of walks. We have also started doing time-outs (I will do another post of that).

Bryan is still working a lot. I am very thankful that he does come home at a decent hour to play with Parker and so we can eat dinner together, but after Parker goes to bed, it's all work. I am enjoying getting our house ready for fall....both decorating and organizing. And just because I have only organized Parker's summer and winter clothes, it is a step in the right direction.

Since I have over 17 more posts to do to catch up, I better get to it and stop rambling!

Book Baby Harper!

On Sunday, a couple friends and I hosted a Book the Baby for Jen. She (and Kennedy) are a very special part of our group and since she is due in about 5 weeks, we really wanted to do something special for her. Miss Literary Specialist, aka Cheryl, suggested a Book the Baby, where you bring a book to grow a baby's library. It was so much fun!!! And believe it or not, Jen did not receive a duplicate book....I think that's great! Here are a couple pictures from this sweet shower:

ORANGE You Glad It's October?!?

Today Parker and I hosted a playdate with an ORANGE theme. We had some ORANGE snacks, wore ORANGE shirts and had a lot of friends over to play. There were 24 Mommies and little people in our house.....it was fun!!! I was only disappointed that we didn't move the playdate to a park since it was lovely outside! Above are all of the ORANGE snacks....it's really hard to find ORANGE foods without everything being cheesy. Below is the craft/activity that we did. Basically it's a color matching activity that also works on fine motor skills (when using the clothespins). THANK YOU Bryan for cutting all the little strips!!!

And Parker trying all of the ORANGE snacks before everyone arrives...
